At Crane Eye Care we utilize the most advanced technology in laser vision correction - the IntraLase Method for corneal flap creation, along with the WaveLight EX500 Excimer Laser and WaveLight FS200 femtosecond laser for a 100% blade-free approach to LASIK.
Dr. Crane is an all laser LASIK surgeon and has been doing LASIK since it was first introduced on the market. Kaua'i patients will benefit from choosing Dr. Crane as their LASIK surgeon for several reasons. Most importantly, pre-operative and post-operative examinations are performed on island by Dr. Crane and his staff. The LASIK procedure takes place on Oahu, but you can feel comfortable knowing your surgeon will be on island in the event you may need additional post-operative care. Dr. Crane has performed over a thousand laser refractive surgeries as well as other eye surgeries, and is very knowledgeable and experienced with these operations.
WaveLight Refractive Suite
LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis) is a refractive surgery to correct Myopia (nearsightedness), Hyperopia (farsightedness) and Astigmatism (irregular shape of the cornea). This is an outpatient, or same day procedure, that for most patients provides a permanent alternative to wearing contact lenses or glasses to correct vision. The surgeon creates a thin flap on the eye with a laser. The flap is then folded back, and the doctor will resurface the cornea to reshape and remodel it with a second laser. The surgery itself typically only takes a few minutes per eye and causes minimal discomfort. The patient's vision is often improved by the following day; although, post-operative follow-up appointments are necessary to ensure proper healing and avoid any complications.
